Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, today announced the appointment of Randy Averitte to senior vice president and general manager of its Overwatch Tactical Operations (Overwatch TacOps) operating unit. Overwatch TacOps is a software and hardware development firm specializing in C4SIR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) systems for the U.S. Government.

"Randy is a proven leader. He has helped build a strong business at Overwatch TacOps that is meeting the growing demand for C4ISR systems within the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. intelligence agencies," said Frank Tempesta, president of Textron Systems. "Randy succeeds Jim Wade, who created an innovative company with cutting-edge solutions that provide invaluable intelligence to our warfighters. We wish Jim well in his retirement and thank him for all his contributions."

Averitte, previously Overwatch TacOps' executive vice president, will take over management of the operating unit from Wade immediately.

"I am certain that Overwatch's unwavering commitment to our warfighters will continue under Randy, and that Overwatch TacOps will continue to rapidly field the quality systems our warfighters need now and in the future," said Jim Wade, founder of Overwatch.

"With extensive experience in program management, systems analysis and systems engineering, we are able to design, develop and support the complex intelligence, information, and communications systems our warfighters need - giving them better situational awareness and an edge. We appreciate the support our skilled team at Overwatch TacOps receives from Frank, Jim and Textron Systems in accomplishing this mission," added Averitte.
